My name is Megan O’Hanlon, and anyone that knows me can tell you - I rarely think "inside the lines." I have a wild imagination and a thirst for spontaneity. My mind carries me in a number of different directions daily, which makes life full of excitement and creativity. Everyone has heard of the phrase: 'Think outside the box', but what exactly is "The Box." For some, it is a realm of creativity. For others, it is a number of guidelines or rules to be followed. As an Interior Designer who believes no dream is too big to bring to life, I see "The Box" as not a realm of creativity, but a set of logical parameters that are necessary for each project. While great Interior Design does come from innovative thinking and creating original (sometimes off the wall) ideas, great Interior Design that is also dynamic and effective comes from creating a box that has a balance of imagination and rationale. The best part about what I do is being a co-author in telling a client's story. When the design process begins, a concept is shaped not only around a clients' taste, but also their budget, living situation, location, accessibility needs, and environmental needs. These aspects are what shape my "Box". A person's place of residency needs to be a place they want to come home to. The ingenuity that I put into each project is done to create an environment that is unique and tasteful, but more importantly functional and comfortable. If someone can walk into their home and immediately feel de-stressed and at ease, I have done a successful job!      

 

I am a graduate of the Furnishings and Interiors Program at The University of Georgia and have a Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. I have worked for both residential and commercial design firms throughout my career, and have also been involved in hospitality projects during my college years. For the last seven months, I have been working in collaboration with construction, project management, investment, and procurement teams for Cortland Partners. Here, I am dedicated to designing and rejuvenating multi-family properties across the North and Southeast.
